My (rapid) Web Design Process

Instead of working throught the typical design process that takes WEEKS (sometimes MONTHS) of back-and-forth to get your website done, what if you dedicate a few days on your calendar to designing it, so that you so that you could walk away with a brand new website at the end of that week / fortnight?

How It Works

PHASE ONE

A

DISCOVERY CALL

All projects start with a Discovery Call where we will discuss your overall website strategy, and the pages and functionality you need. I will ask you lots of questions about your business and your vision for your website. It’s also a chance for you to ask me any questions.

Payment Schedule:
The first payment of 25% of the estimated total is due at the time of booking.

SITE MAP CREATION

After our Discovery Call, I will produce a site map. This is a visual representation of all your required pages, and will be our guide for your website design and build. If you have decided on any additional pages or functionality, I will update your cost estimate.

PHASE TWO

A

BOOK YOUR DATE

Secure your web design and build date, allowing yourself 2–4 weeks prior, to prepare your content. I need to have all your content (images and copy) before I start working on your website.

PREPARE YOUR CONTENT

Now it’s time for you to gather your content (copy and images), according to your site map.

The rapid design process works best when I have all of your content (copy and images) in place before we begin and you have completed the pre-project preparation. The end result is so much better if we are able to design your brand and website around your content, rather than vice versa.

If your content is not ready, we will postpone your design and build date to the next available space in my calendar.

Content Creation Resources
I highly recommend that you have professional photographs taken of yourself and your products/team, if applicable. If you need copywriting support, please have a look at my Resources page for more information.

website design inspiration and brand guide

We start off by collaborating on a shared Pinterest Board, where you will pin examples of websites you like, and other inspiration. I will create a document that will include:

– colours
– pattern, shape or icon
– fonts
– general style
– website inspiration (Pinterest Board)

PRE-WEBSITE DESIGN CALL

We will have a Zoom call to check on how your content preparation is coming along. This is an opportunity for us to make sure we are both clear on what is required and for you to ask any questions.

PHASE THREE

A

YOUR INTENSIVE WEB DESIGN WEEK

I will start the week by designing your home page and one subsequent page for your approval. With the brand guide in place, and the home page and overall look and feel agreed, I will then continue to build and populate your website.

These designs are called wireframes, and are not your actual website. I will invite you to check in frequently, approve finished pages and give feedback. Once you are happy with the design elements and all the content is in the right place, I will ask you to sign it off. I will then go ahead and build your website according to the approved wireframes.

Payment Schedule:
The second payment of 50% of the estimated total is due before the design week starts.

PHASE FOUR

A

YOUR WEBSITE GOES LIVE

I will make your website live once you have had a chance to review and check it. And then it’s time to pop the champagne corks and celebrate!

Payment Schedule:
The final payment of 25% of the estimated total is due upon launch.
